Welcome to my site.

Entering a new career can be challenging; it requires considerable perseverance, creativity, and effective execution.

My site was updated for simplicity.

  • I've had a passion for information technology since my early gaming days. Building and troubleshooting my PC, researching server hosting, and enhancing network connections became second nature. Curiosity led me to explore cybersecurity classes, and I instantly fell in love with the content.

YouTube videos and home labs further fueled my interest. Protecting data, considering its high value to companies, became a significant motivation. Contributing to the vital mission of preventing cyber threats and using my skills felt like a substantial cause.

    • My journey began with a focus on studying CompTIA A+ to build a solid foundation in line with the requirements for entry-level IT roles. It's noteworthy that I hadn't acquired the CompTIA A+ certification when I secured my position. Instead, the only certification I held was TestOut Network PRO, obtained through participation or completion.

    • Recognizing the competitive landscape, I proactively applied to over 100 entry-level applications specifically Help Desk Roles, continually refining and remastering my resume to enhance its impact.

    • Embracing rejection as a constructive part of the process, I focused on learning from each setback, and identifying areas for improvement to increase my chances of acceptance.

    • Crafting my resume to highlight exceptional customer service skills, ability to handle objections, and proficiency in finding efficient solutions, I aimed to showcase qualities essential for success in customer communications.

    • Demonstrating a commitment to ongoing education, I pursued both popular and lesser-known certifications while concurrently attending school. This proved my dedication to enhancing cybersecurity knowledge, with the added value of holding a relevant but not popular certification upon hire.

    • Recognizing the limitations of certifications and degrees alone, I emphasized the importance of a deep understanding of the materials. The ability to articulate and explain concepts in detail became a crucial aspect of my learning journey, signaling a genuine comprehension beyond just memorization.

    • I received a relatively low salary offer for my first job, and while I was considering it due to the emphasis on learning and gaining hands-on experience, another opportunity suddenly surfaced, offering double the compensation.

    • Networking, reaching out to recruiters on social media like LinkedIn, and attending events are crucial. The connections you build significantly impact the opportunities that come your way.

    • Beginning in any field, particularly in information technology, can pose challenges. I initiated my journey by dedicating time each day to read 10 pages related to my certifications outside of school.

    • Subsequently, I immersed myself in the community by connecting with and following professionals in my field on social media.

    • To gain insights, I extensively watched YouTube videos featuring projects, reviews, and motivational content.

    • To maintain accountability, I shared my goals with others, keeping them informed about my intentions and plans.

    • I took the initiative to educate my friends about technology, sharing what I found intriguing about the subject.

  • Navigating a career path comes with its share of challenges, such as fatigue, stress, and even feelings of depression. It's essential to remember to take things at a manageable pace; after all, it's not a race. The ultimate goal isn't just reaching the end but rather building mastery of the skillset.

Focus on the process of compounding—accomplishing a little each day adds up over time and yields rewards. Embrace the rubber band theory, recognizing that being pulled back can propel you further forward. Visualization is key; if it's challenging to picture your future, seek inspiration from videos, books, and conversations with professionals in the field.

Finally, surround yourself with the right support system that will keep you accountable and cheer you up with your accomplishments.
